Suspect in section 7 house-breaking cases detained

SHAH ALAM: Police believe they can solve several cases of housebreak­ing in Section 7, here in the past three months with the arrest of a suspect on Thursday.

Shah Alam OCPD, ACP Shafien Mamat said the 21-year- old man and a friend were detained by policemen who were carrying a check in the area at 11.45am.

He said a check on the car used by the suspect revealed several house- breaking tools and part of the loot from his criminal activities, including cash and a watch.

“While policemen were inspecting the car, the suspect’s friend fled and efforts were being made to track him down.

“During the interrogat­ion, the suspect admitted to being involved in a number of house- breaking cases in Section 7 in the past three months and we are now going after the remnants of the gang,” he said at a press conference, here yesterday.

According to Shafien, a check on the house of the suspect located in Section 7 also led to the discovery of several other items believed to be part of the loot from his criminal activities.

The suspect is being remanded until Feb 13 for investigat­ion under Section 457 of the Penal Code, he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, Shafien said police had also detained a businessma­n suspected of being involved in a ‘ hit and run’ case involving a 56-year- old policeman last Wednesday.

He said the 29-year- old man was detained at his house in Puchong, near here on Thursday based on informatio­n from the registrati­on number on his vehicle obtained from a witness of the incident.

“The victim, Corporal R Hirudhayad­has is now in a critical condition and was receiving treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang,” he added. — Bernama
