Collaboration crucial in welfare delivery — Fatimah

-

KUCHING: The state Welfare Department always strives to improve the efficiency in delivering its services to the target groups.

This is because the department inculcates the caring culture in order to enhance the its service delivery and networking initiatives, in line with its tagline ‘Humanising Welfare Services’.

According to Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, the government is doing all it can to help the target groups with new steps being taken towards that direction – among them is to improve facilities at the community-based rehabilitation centres (PDK) across the state.

“We have 49 PDKs in the state – all need special facilities for the comfort and convenience of those at the centres,” she said at an event hosted by the JKMNS in a hotel here on Friday.

Fatimah said another step taken by her ministry was to encourage the registration of more kindergartens across the state so that the children enrolled there could receive early childhood education assistance from the government.

Other matters mentioned by Fatimah included the improvement on professional welfare services and smart partnerships with various agencies.

“The state government is concerned about the welfare needs of the community and appreciates the cooperation of volunteer welfare organisations when it comes to welfare. Their assistance and cooperation is vital in helping the government provide services to the targeted groups,” added the minister.

JKMNS practises a collaboration strategy – working together with other government departments and agencies, as well as with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local communities to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to it.
