Unveiling the Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid – the C350 e Avantgarde
MIRI: Authorised dealer of Mercedes-Benz range of vehicles, Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd yesterday unveiled the first MercedesBenz plug-in hybrid - the C350 e Avantgarde.
Unlike a conventional hybrid, the car can run on battery power alone, albeit for a shorter distance.
The car is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged fourcylinder engine. Providing additional power is an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and the 7-speed automatic transmission, giving a total maximum output of 275 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.
Performance numbers include a 0-100 km/h time of just 5.9 seconds, while fuel consumption is 2.1 litres per 100 km.
The high-voltage lithium-ion battery has a total capacity of 6.38 kWh, and is located at the rear of the car, under the trunk.
The battery, when fully charged, can run the car up to 31 km at a maximum speed of 130 km/h (on battery mode alone, without using fuel). It would be recharged in about one hour and 45 minutes via a wallbox or around two-and-a-half hours through a domestic point.
The charging port is located on the right side of the rear bumper.
A wallbox priced at RM7,500 is available for the car though a domestic plug charging cable is provided as standard.
Avantgarde features include an ‘Airmatic’ Dynamic handling system, comfort direct steer system, cruise control, run-flat tires, ‘thermotronic’ three-zone automatic climate control airconditioning system, reverse camera, keyless starting system, sliding sunroof, an audio system with a 7-inch central display screen and l3 surround sound speakers and 19-inch alloy rims.
On the road price is RM293,784.30 inclusive of GST but without insurance.
