Tanjong Datu folk know what BN has done for them — Federal minister

-

LUNDU: Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin is confident that Barisan Nasional ( BN) can win in Tanjong Datu, in that its constituents are appreciative of what the ruling coalition has done for them over the years.

This, he said, was indicated from the feedback from those taking part in a seminar on ‘ Entrepreneurship and Consumerism’ conducted by his ministry here yesterday.

“Today ( yesterday) in this community hall, there are already 600 voters whom I believe will vote for BN.

“When I asked if any of them ( seminar participants) knew who the candidate ( Datin Patinggi) Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu was, they all said yes; when I asked if they would vote for her, all of them answered yes,” he told reporters after officiating at the opening of the seminar.

Hamzah said BN had a good proven track record in the country including in Tanjong Datu, of which the state’s fifth chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem was the assemblyman.

Adenan passed away on Jan 11 this year due to heart complications.

“Tanjong Datu has gone through tremendous development, especially under ‘ Tok Nan’ (Adenan). I believe that Datuk Amar Jamilah is the right person to continue Tok Nan’s legacy in Tanjong Datu, as she is already very familiar with people and the area.”

The Tanjong Datu by- election on Feb 18 will see a threecornered fight between Jamilah, Johnny Aput of State Reform Party ( STAR) and Rapelson Richard Hamit of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru ( PBDS Baru).
