Resignations show DAP has no credibility – SUPP man
KUCHING: The recent resignations of the four DAP elected representatives in Malacca from the party go to show that DAP has lost its credibility, said SUPP Youth Central publicity secretary Milton Foo.
He recalled that DAP Sarawak had appealed to voters to go for ‘a change of government’ by voting for Pakatan Rakyat ( PR) comprising DAP, PKR and PAS during the 2013 general elections.
“All the state assemblypersons from DAP Sarawak including Chong Chieng Jen ( Kota Sentosa assemblyman and state DAP chairman), Wong King Wei ( Padungan assemblyman) and Violet Yong ( Pending assemblywoman) were appealing to the people of Sarawak to put their trust in PR including PAS and vote for them.
“They created a false hope for the people by saying that the new coalition would emerge the ruling coalition in Malaysia,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He was prompted for comments on the resignation of three DAP assemblymen Lim Jak Wong ( Bachang), Chin Choon Seong ( Kesidang) and Goh Leong San ( Duyong) as well as DAP MP Sim Tong Him (Kota Melaka) from the party on Sunday.
The four DAP men were said to have cited disappointment in the party’s leadership as among the reasons to quit DAP.
Foo said DAP achieved its best ever electoral results by winning 38 parliamentary and 95 state seats out of the 51 parliamentary and 103 state seats it contested in the 2013 elections. In terms of parliamentary seats, he said DAP had become the second largest political party after Umno.
“Since the May 5 election in 2013, DAP has increased its political powers but is lacking political stance.”
