SSPCA appeals for more rice, detergent donations from public

-

KUCHING: Show some love this Valentine’s Day by helping those whose hearts are always open to love anyone unconditionally.

The Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ( SSPCA) shelter is running low on their rice stock and welcomes anyone to help replenish it.

According to SSPCA Public Relations and Outreach Officer Marvin Hon, they use about 10 packs of 10kg rice or 100kg daily to feed their canine residents.

“We also use a lot of detergent to wash the premises. Rice and washing detergent are our most needed items,” he told The Borneo Post.

Since the launch of Project Basket last year, donors can now drop off items such as food or other necessities at their nearest participating pet shop, saving themselves a trip down to Kota Sentosa where the shelter is located.

The shops that accept goods for the shelter include Amazing Pet at Jalan Song and Rubber Road, Animal World Kingdom at King’s Centre, City Pets House at Bormill Estate, Depo Cat Shop at Petra Jaya, Doggie Pets Shop at Jalan Batu Lintang, Evermore Pets at Jalan Tabuan, Just Pets at Batu Kawa and BDC, Pet Centre at Bormill Estate, Love Crystal Pets House at Sunny Estate, May’s Pet Corner at Jln Setia Raja, My Home Pet Care at Tabuan Dusun, Patches & Friends Pet Shop at MetroCity.

They can also go to Pet Concept at Batu Kawa, Pets Passion at Laksamana Cheng Ho, Pet’s Planet at Rock Road, Pong Pong Pet Saloon at Tabuan Jaya, Purr Pets at Tabuan Tranquility, Samarahan Pet Shop at Bandar Riyal, The Animal Kingdom ( Matang, Petra Jaya, or Satok), The Pet Zone at Green Road, Toda’s Ark at Samarahan, and YaYa Pet Shop at Stutong.

The shelter can also use a regular stock of wet and dry food for both dogs and cats, milk powder for kittens and puppies, disinfectants, disposable gloves and face masks, garbage bags, old newspaper and any items that can help with animal care and enrichment.
