DAP elected reps quitting party lesson for all — Khairy

-

PUTRAJAYA: The resignation of four DAP elected representatives is a lesson to all political parties on playing politics, says Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

“It’s funny how politics work. That happened a few hours after Selangor Menteri Besar ( Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali) said one of the ministers was going to resign,” he said when commenting on a report that three DAP assemblymen and an MP resigned from the party on Sunday.

Khairy, who is also Youth and Sports Minister was met after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and Johor Petroleum Development Corporation Bhd here yesterday.

He said he was unsure why the four DAP representatives left the party.

“That is their problem. But this is a lesson for all political parties. You can’t be sure. You have to make sure that your party is wellrun and the people are happy with the policies of the party,” he added.

Three Melaka DAP state assemblymen and an MP resigned from the party on Sunday.

Commenting on Mohamed Azmin’s allegation, Khairy said from the start, Cabinet members did not believe in the talk.

“Since we are all colleagues in the Cabinet, we can check with one another. I have checked and we discovered there is no basis to it. I don’t know what information he has but it certainly, was baseless,” he said.

On Friday, Mohamed Azmin uploaded the status of his Twitter account by posing a question on whether a senior minister had resigned. Following that, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak issued a statement denying the allegation of the Selangor Menteri Besar, apart from asking Mohamed Azmin to name the minister concerned. — Bernama
