SSC launch 1M1S series of sports books
KUCHING: A leading publisher Penerbit Ilmu Bakti Sdn Bhd (PIB) donated the 1Murid 1Sukan book series comprising seven books ( basketball, football, badminton, tennis, vol leybal l, athletics, and sports and games rules) to the Sports Unit of the Sarawak Education Department recently.
Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO Dr Ong Kong Swee, who launched the books and handed them over to Sports Unit Head Johnny Rasit, said this series of books is to support the 1Student 1Sports (1Murid 1Sukan) policy by the Ministry of Education Malaysia to produce balanced individuals as valuable human resources for the country.
Main authors of the 1M1S series are Dr Chin Ngien Siong ( badminton, volleyball, tennis, athletics, sports and games rules) and Assoc Prof Dr Wee Eng Hoe ( basketbal l, footbal l, tennis, sports and games rules) and Dr Ong Kong Swee as a co-author for the books on tennis and sports and games rules.
The launching and handing over of the books was witnessed by PIB representative Tommy Voon, Dr Chin, SSC coaching panel chairman Dr Balbir Singh and Dr Pathmanathan K Suppiah.
Ong, who is also Sarawak State Sports Council director, thanked Dr Chin and Dr Wee for their commitment and collaboration in writing the 1M1S series and lauded their contributions in the development of sports science and Physical Education over the years.
The books are sold in all major bookstores for RM112 per set of seven books and RM16 per book.
