Race for FAM top post a ‘battle royale’ between TMJ and Annuar Musa
PETALING JAYA: The race for the post of Football Association of Malaysia ( FAM) will be an intriguing battle royale between Tunku Mahkota of Johor ( TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Kelantan FA ( KAFA) advisor Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
TMJ who had contested the post in the previous congress but lost to outgoing president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah will take on former FAM deputy president Annuar Musa in a straight fight.
FAM secretary- general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin made the announcement after Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and former Home Ministry secretary- general Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat did not confirm their candidacy.
“TMJ and Annuar are two candidates who had confirmed their candidacy when nominations closed at 5pm today (yesterday). The nominations will be scrutinised and finalised during the FAM Exco meeting on Feb 20,” he told reporters after the announcement at Wisma FAM, here yesterday.
The election of office bearers for FAM top posts would be held during the FAM Congress on March 25.
Hamidin said TMJ or Annuar can decide to withdraw from the contest before the congress.
Meanwhile, the race for the post of two deputy presidents will be a four- cornered fight while nine candidates have entered the battle for the post of four vice presidents. — Bernama
