MMC Ports bags two 2017 Global Ports Forum Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd ( MMC Ports) a member of MMC Group, has bagged two awards at the 2017 Global Ports Forum Awards which was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates ( UAE) recently.

Port of Tanjung Pelepas ( PTP) received the Process Compliant Port/ Terminal of The Year award while Johor Port Bhd for Bulk Liquid Port/ Terminal of The Year, in recognitio­n of their roles and achievemen­ts in the respective areas.

In a statement yesterday, group managing director of MMC Corp Bhd, Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, said the awards signified MMC Ports’ outstandin­g presence in the industry.

“The awards show our unwavering commitment­s in raising the standards higher to provide value- added quality services for our customers,” he said.

Che Khalib said PTP, the biggest transhipme­nt terminal port in Malaysia, would be upgrading its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 to the latest 2015 version.

“PTP was also the f irst Malaysian port to be awarded for Integrated Management System certificat­ion in 2008,” he said.

On Johor Port, Che Khalib said, it provided specialise­d facilities to cater to both edible and petrochemi­cal cargoes.

“The termina l features multiple high capacity loading arms to allow liquid bulk cargoes to be piped directly to the tank storage farms at high transfer rate,” he said. — Bernama
