Sheda holds talk on boosting growth of housing industry
KUCHING: Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association ( Sheda) recently held a luncheon talk aimed at spurring the growth of the housing industry.
Sheda president Joseph Wong deliberated on ensuring equitable balance between the interests of housing developers, the policies of the government and the rights of house buyers.
“Since Wong has been elected as Sheda president for the 20152018 term, he has been leading a team of eager council members and experienced advisors to advocate Sheda’s interests to the state government, government bodies and agencies whilst also developing and maintaining good relationships with them and other professional associations.
“Despite the current economic situation, Sheda continues to address issues affecting its members with special focus on the effects of certain housing development provisions, policies, regulations and planning criteria,” said a media release yesterday.
The talk provided developers, consultants, bankers, lawyers and other stakeholders with first-hand knowledge about the requirements and enforcement of the new laws and policies to ensure compliance.

A total of 14 topics were presented at the talk.
Participants were also given updates on the Housing Development ( Control and Licensing) Ordinance 2013, Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Regulations 2014, Housing Development (Control and Licensing) (Amendment and Exemption) Regulations 2015, Housing Development Account, HomeApps Application, SPA Circular on density and affordable housing ( SPEKTRA) policies, Proposed Sheda Affordable Housing Scheme, PR1MA Equal Treatment, Proposed Amendments to Strata Title Ordinance, Sesco policies and issues, Occupation Permits, Telekom Capital Contribution, Federal Housing Loan ( LPPSA), Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Housing Tribunal.
