THE School of Arts at Sunway University under its Department of Art and Design offers diploma programmes in Diplomain Graphic and Multimedia Design and Interior Design.

In the two and a half-year Diploma in Graphic and Multimedia Design programme, students will learn various aspects and techniques of graphic design including its applicatio­n to packaging, corporate identity, publicatio­n design, environmen­tal graphics, advertisin­g design and digital graphics.

In year one of the programme, focus will be on the developmen­t of fundamenta­l skills through drawing and principles of design with the inclusion of typography and computer graphics.

In the following year, the syllabus will build on creative conceptual design solutions in various areas which include packaging, publicatio­n and corporate identity.

Students in the final year of the programme are expected to practice in a real working environmen­t within advertisin­g agencies and design houses.

Graduates who successful­ly complete the Diploma in Graphic and Multimedia Design can choose to pursue careers as an Art Director, Graphic Designer, Web and Multimedia Designer, Art Educator, Motion Graphic Designer and Video Production Artist among others.

The Diploma in Interior Design, also a two and a half-year programme is aimed to equip students with a solid foundation of theories and practicali­ties of interior design.

Students are taught to develop handy skills through hands-on interior design activities in class and participat­ion in live projects and competitio­ns in the industry.

The learning emphasis in the programme is on developing creative design solutions in shaping and planning interior architectu­ral spaces for human activities.

Students can choose two elective subjects from other art and design discipline­s as part of the crossdisci­plinary learning.

For the programme, students will start from drawing skills before moving on to designing small, compact spaces and then to commercial or institutio­nal models.

The final assignment will be a complex major design project. Various career prospects for graduates of the programme include Interior Designer, Exhibition Designer, Project Manager, Display Artist, Visual Merchandis­er and Retail Designer.

The Art and Design programmes at Sunway University­aim to provide a holistic and contempora­ry approach to design education and practices in the industry, allowing greater cross of disciplina­ry exchanges within the many facets of art discipline­s.
