Help put smiles on those with cleft lip, palate
MIRI: The public in and around Miri are urged to support the ‘Flex. Bend.Stretch’ fitness charity event on March 11 in aid of the next charity project to put smiles on those with cleft lip and palate in Sarawak
Project organiser Columbia Asia Hospital Miri, CAH-Miri is targeting to raise at least RM60,000 for the Cleft Lip, Palate Charity Project for the needy.
“We are targeting some 1,000 people to take part but the response is very poor with only 150 confirming their participation.
“Caring members of the public, show that you care. Registration is open until March 10,” a spokesperson told The Borneo Post yesterday.
She said during the charity fitness programme participants get to join an exercise routine led by a fitness instructor. They will also be entertained with live music, and are eligible for lucky draws.
It will be held at Eastwood Valley, Golf and Country Club (Musical Corridor) from 4.50 - 6pm on Saturday ( March11),
Registration fee is RM60 and each participant will be given one Flexband and T-shirt.

The corrective surgery for the cleft lip and palate project initiated in 2004 is a joint project of CAHMiri, Cleft Lip Palate Association Malaysia ( Clapam) and Pantai Medical Centre.
So far 347 needy patients have benefitted from the project.
The date for the 18th charity cleft lip and palate corrective surgery has yet to be fixed.
Those earning total family income below RM2,000 a month with family members born with cleft lips and palates are encouraged to register.
All expenses are paid for needy patients and accompanying family members including transportation, lodging and food for one week.
