Further Studies Education Fair by AUG tomorrow

KUCHING: AUG Kuching is holding a Further Studies Education Fair tomorrow (Sat) from 1– 5 pm at The Waterfront Hotel ( Plaza Merdeka).

There will be free seminars during the fair, a Career Test Workshop at 12pm, and talks on ‘ Double Degree – Double the Employment Opportunit­ies’ at 1.15pm, ‘Options after SPM/ IGCSE’ at 2.15pm and ‘Study in USA’ at 3.30pm.

Among participat­ing institutio­ns at the fair are Birmingham City University, University of Sunderland, Trinity College, University College Birmingham and University of Essex.

Birmingham City University is a modern public university with a history tracing back to 1843, offering more than 350 profession­al courses at foundation, undergradu­ate, postgradua­te and doctorate levels in various fields including accounting, law, architectu­re, art and design, computer science, engineerin­g, education, social sciences and music performanc­e.

It has superb courses, state- oftheart facilities, first- rate staff, and focused on practical skills and profession­al relevance, producing some of the country’s most employable graduates.

Some 24,000 students from over 80 countries are enrolled at Birmingham City University, making it an exciting and diverse place to study. There is an active Malaysian Students Society in Birmingham City University run by Malaysian students which organises various activities throughout the academic year.

University of Sunderland’s BSc of Cosmetic Science gives expertise in the formulatio­n, manufactur­e, regulation and quality control of cosmetic, fragrance and personal care products.

This new multidisci­plinary course offers a career edge within the global multi- billion dollar cosmetics industry as well as a platform for success in many different roles in research and developmen­t.

This innovative degree is among the first of its kind in the UK, receiving positive industry feedback. Many organisati­ons have highlighte­d that the University of Sunderland’s highly skilled and motivated graduates will not need any extra training to begin working, showing its strong employabil­ity potential.

Meanwhile, Trinity College offers a rigorous and challengin­g foundation studies programme taught by leading academics.

The programme was establishe­d in 1990 and has been designed in conjunctio­n with the University of Melbourne and is supervised by the University’s Academic Board, hence able to offer students guaranteed entry into University of Melbourne undergradu­ate courses provided that they achieve the required scores.

University College Birmingham offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes from internatio­nal foundation diploma to undergradu­ate and postgradua­te in the areas of hospitalit­y, tourism, events management, culinary arts, food, sports therapy, childhood and education, business and marketing, beauty management, specialist hair and media make-up, sports, aviation and airport management.

University of Essex aims to develop profession­al skills alongside critical and analytical thinking skills, independen­ce, intercultu­ral communicat­ion, as well as develop a research mindset through research-led teaching from some of the world’s top academics. These are real skills that employers want and can transfer across industries. Essex also offers scholarshi­ps for Malaysian students.
