PBPM invites former policemen and pensioners to join as members
MIRI: Ex- police personnel, pensioners and former auxiliary policemen are urged to register as members of the Ex-Police Association of Malaysia, Miri branch ( PBPM).
The association’s branch chairman Han Hipeni said their membership would strengthen the association and make it a meaningful non- governmental organisation ( NGO) to look after their welfare and interests.
“Currently we have 267 members, the updating process is still ongoing and I truly hope more will join us,” he said during PBPM and Miri police get together dinner which was attended by Miri police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat, Miri deputy mayor Julaihi Mohamad and other police personnel at its centre in Piasau Camp on Wednesday.
The centre, Han said, had gone through upgrading works since it was given by Miri Resident office back in June 2015.
“Through various contributions, PBPM managed to transform the premises into our activity centre.
“This centre is a place where all the members meet and have our activities and this building is actually being leased by Miri Resident office to us as this location has been gazetted as a nature reserve since April 3, 2014.
“I do hope PBPM will have our own building in the future,” Han said adding PBPM was starting a homestay at the centre as well.
Han also commended Khoo for his contribution and idea for the get together dinner that brought together the police, the retirees and ex-police.
“Though we are no longer in the police force, we can still assist them ( police) in crime prevention by giving information when necessary,” he said.
