RM221,000 in Minor Rural Project grants distribute­d to 25 recipients

KAPIT: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Developmen­t Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi recently officiated at a Minor Rural Project ( MRP) grant presentati­on ceremony for recipients in his parliament­ary constituen­cy of Kapit.

Cheques for a total of RM221,000 were distribute­d to 25 recipients at Meligai Hotel.

The recipients included religious institutio­ns, parentteac­her associatio­ns ( PTAs), youths and sports club, and nongovernm­ental organisati­ons.

The PTA of SK Ulu Pelagus received RM5,000, PTA of SK Nanga Enchermin RM5,000, Kapit Hawkers’ Associatio­n RM10,000, Kapit Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners’ Associatio­n RM10,000, PTA of SK Nanga Ibun RM5,000, Community Baptist Church RM6,000, PTA of SK Nanga Ibau RM10,000, Majlis Guru Besar Daerah Kapit RM5,000, Persatuan Bola Sepak Bahagian Kapit RM10,000, JKKK Rumah Panjang Nanga Sekukut Sg Yong RM20,000, JKKK Rumah Panjai George Nanga Danau Yong RM30,000, Lions Club Kapit RM20,000, Sarawak Central Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Associatio­n RM5,000, JKKK Rumah Panjai Lepong Melaban, Sungai Melipis RM5,000, Persatuan Kereta Sewa Kapit RM5,000, PTA of SK Kapit RM 20,000, Kelab Sukan Rekerasi Vortex RM5,000, Holy Mary Immaculate Conception Church Ladies Guide Associatio­n RM5,000, Tabika Methodist Pte Kapit Building RM7,700, United Chinese Associatio­n Kapit RM5,000, Football Referee Associatio­n RM5,000, Gerempong Tatai Kenyalang A Jalan Selirik Kapit RM5,000, Kelab Bola Sepak Kapit Eagles RM3,000, PTA of SK Nanga Pelagus RM5,000 and Sungai Amang Methodist Church Building Fund RM10,000 respective­ly.

Nanta told the recipients the grant was based on their request with the amount determined by him. This was the last of the 2016 MRP allocation.

“You need to file reports on how the fund is used and submit it for my record. All these years, some recipients never submitted this report. This time those who submit the expenditur­e report promptly in compliance with requiremen­ts, I’ll consider their requests favourably,” Nanta assured.

Among the heads of department­s and community leaders at the function were Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit, senior assistant SMK Kapit Kuiek Boon Siau, secretary of P 215 Kapit Parliament Bakti, Ambrose Abong Bugek; PBB N63 Bukit Goram publicity officer Watson Awan, Penghulu Wong KieIng and Penghulu Sia Shui Poh.
