KUCHING: The Ministry of Local Government encourages housing developers to incorporate environmental friendly planning and designs into their housing estates.

We also request adequate open space, recreational parks as well as proper drains and road and safety features. Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Assistant Minister for Local Government

In making this call, Assistant Minister for Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil said proper planning could promote better interactions among the people in a harmonious neighbourhood to reflect the 1Malaysia community in residential areas.

He added that open space or recreational parks would also encourage people to lead a healthier lifestyle.

“We also request adequate open space, recreational parks as well as proper drains and roads and safety features,” said Penguang at Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association ( Sheda) Kuching Branch ‘1st Home and Property Roadshow 2017’ opening ceremony in Boulevard shopping mall here yesterday.

Meanwhile, he said the Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation has indicated many times that they would like to see more medium and low cost affordable houses be built in order to cater for the needs of the lower income group.

Adding on, the Marudi assemblymen said the roadshow was a good platform for developers, estate agents, bankers, and related traders to exhibit and market their products to potential buyers.

“We would like to see Sheda playing a more proactive role in working closely with the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Local Government and related authorities to ensure products sold are demand driven,” he said.

Among those present were organising chairman Peter Lau, Sheda Kuching Branch chairman Dr Christopher Ngui, Sheda Kuching Branch advisors Sim Kiang Chiok and Iskandat Skarkawi.
