The donation drive was officiated at by UPP’s top leaders including its president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Opar assemblyman Datuk Ranum Mina, party advisor Dr Chou Chi Ming and secretary general George Lo.

UPP Community Service Board (South) Committee chairman Yan Min Su said the activity was held in response to SGH blood bank’s call.

Aside from that, Yap said the drive was one of the annual community activities organised by UPP Community Service Board (South), adding that they had lined up other service oriented community activities this year.

“One of the activities will be a dinner to commemorate the sacrifice of all single mothers and we will invite single mothers from the Single Mothers’ Association to attend this function.

“We are expecting about 400 people to attend the dinner,” he said.

Yap said the dinner, which is organised in conjunction with international women’s day, would be held at KTS Garden on March 8.

Other upcoming events include a youth leadership and development training ( May), the Gawai festival celebration (June) and ‘Stop Violence against Women’ campaign (November).
