Timely help for elderly woman suffering from skin cancer

-

KUCHING: Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching ( Hope Place) recently came to the aid of Dayang Misiah Awang Majidi who is suffering from skin cancer after being informed by a doctor from Sarawak General Hospital.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan visited the couple’s home to present food items to the 67 year old.

Misiah, whose face was covered by cancer cells, could only be fed a nutrient drink through a tube – consuming up to seven tins of Enercal per month.

Her husband Karim Piee, 70, is incapacitated by knee problems which makes walking difficult. He also suffers from high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney problems.

The couple’s youngest daughter Sabariah Karim who is their sole carer is only earning RM800 monthly from work in a school canteen.

Hope Place has run out of Enercal milk which they distribute to those in need.

The NGO visits needy families to distribute essential food like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles.

Many families or individuals who barely earn enough to get through the month are grateful to be given these basic necessities.

Hope Place also supplies milk powder, oats and diapers to families with special needs children and elderly or disabled members.

It is supporting more than 160 families, delivering food to them once in two months.

For more information on how you can help, Hope Place can be reached at hotline 013- 567 2775 or office 082 - 68 3378 from 8.30am-12pm and 2pm-5pm from Mondays to Fridays, and from 9am to 12 noon on Saturdays.

Donations can be deposited through Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching Maybank 5112- 8900-1160. Donors can ask for a receipt from staff at Hope Place.
