Muslim NGO, Bersatu, welcomes new members at dinner
MIRI: Nearly 300 members of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Bersatu Islamiah ( Bersatu) a Muslim non- governmental organisation ( NGO) attended a Certificate of Appointment ( Penyampaian Watikah) presentation programmecum- dinner at a hotel here on Tuesday.
The programme was organised by Bersatu Miri and assisted by its Martial Art Bureau, Persilatan Betawi’ Waris Betawi Bersatu Riders.
“The dinner also saw the handing over of Certificates of Appointment to its members apart from enhancing rapport among the Muslim brotherhood and with other Muslim organisations in Miri,” Bersatu Miri chairman Japar Amat told The Borneo Post.
Also present during the dinner was Bersatu adviser Rosmulyadi Hussin who presented the certificates to the new members.
According to Japar, the programme formed part of their members’ pledge to be sincere in championing for the interests of Muslims and to work closely to bring the organisation to greater heights in fighting for the interest of the NGO.
He said its various bureaus including youth and welfare and other related wings were also set up to expand the organisation.
Also present during the dinner were other NGOs, namely Pekida, Batas, Akrab, Persatuan ImamIman Bahagian Miri and Kelab Pencinta Burung Kicau Miri.
Japar added that Bersatu Miri had organised a `gotongroyong’ (work party) to clear away unwanted items at the Kampung Nyalau mosque in Bintulu in an effort to get its younger members actively involved in religious and community activities.
The NGO’s upcoming activities include a family day, welfare donations, a telematch among Bersatu family members and more social obligation and outreach events.
“We are also inviting other Muslim NGOs to take part in our activities which aim to further strengthen the Muslim community in Miri,” Japar disclosed.
