More youths interested in joining Saberkas — Sec-gen
KUCHING: Youths are showing interest in joining the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation ( Saberkas) with an increase in the number of registrations each year.
According to Saberkas secretary- general Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, what was interesting about the new recruits was that there is a number of nonBumiputera showing interest in becoming members.
“We are happy to see our new members consisting of most ethnicities in Sarawak, and with the increase in the number of branches and units across the state, we are confident that we will see more youths becoming members,” Abdul Rahman said.
He said this at the launching of the ‘ Streets of Kuching’ photography exhibition at the Sarawak Tourism Complex, ChinaHouse yesterday.
Abdul Rahman, who is also the Assistant Minister for Public Utilities ( Electricity and Telecommunications) said 60 Saberkas branches across Sarawak have held their triennial general meeting for the 2017–2020 term.
“We are hoping that all 80 branches will hold their meetings before the state Saberkas annual general meeting (AGM) to be held after the Hari Raya (Aidilfitri) celebration this year,” he said.
