KCGCCI to go on trade mission to Bangladesh

KUCHING: Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( KCGCCI) will be going on a trade and investment mission to Bangladesh tentativel­y from April 6 to 13.

Its commerce committee chairman Dr Christophe­r Ngui said the inaugural trip was on an invitation of the High Commission­er of Bangladesh in Kuala Lumpur.

“The trade investment mission seeks to strengthen trade ties between Sarawak and Bangladesh and to explore business and investment opportunit­ies there,” he told a press conference at Wisma Chinese Chambers here yesterday.

Among the highlights of the trip are courtesy visits to Bangladesh’s Agricultur­e minister and other ministers; meeting with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry; meeting with Bangladesh Export Developmen­t Bureau; courtesy visit to Malaysia High Commission­er in Dhaka; courtesy visit to chairman of Bangladesh Investment Developmen­t Authority of the Prime Minister’s Office; and visits to pharmaceut­ical factory and textile factory.

“Delegates will have a businessto-business session with members of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

“Delegates who are manufactur­ers or traders and wish to export their products to Bangladesh are urged to bring along their products for showcasing purposes. The delegation will also be visiting Dhaka City and Cox Bazar, a renowned tourist attraction in Bangladesh,” Ngui said.

He thus called on KCGCCI members interested to participat­e in the trip to register with their secretaria­t.

“The tour fare includes return air fares from Kuching to Dhaka and Dhaka to Cox Bazar, accommodat­ion, meals, airport pick-up, local transporta­tion and visa applicatio­n.

“The delegation will be flying with Malaysia Airlines and accommodat­ion will be at four to five- star hotels,” he said, adding that KCGCCI was expecting around 40 members to join them for the trip.
