Case adjourned as complainan­ts wish to withdraw it

KUCHING: The Sessions Court here yesterday adjourned a robbery case to March 21 for further mention as the three complainan­ts wish to withdraw the case.

Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad fixed the date after the prosecutio­n disclosed the intention of the complainan­ts who were victims in the case.

She said a written applicatio­n should be made to the prosecutio­n for approval.

The accused Faizal Sait is facing three armed robbery charges.

He was accused of committing the offence on the victims - two female and a male - at Sg Tabuan Bridge at Jalan Setia Raja at about 1.15am on May 4 last year.

He allegedly committed the offences with one person still at large.

Armed robbery, under Section 395 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonme­nt for a term which may extend to 20 years, and is liable to a fine or whipping.

In the same courtroom, the judge adjourned to March 30 another robbery case involving a man and a woman, pending the outcome of the representa­tion by the defence counsel.

Yesterday counsel Hani Iryani Bonny told the judge they would like to make representa­tion for the case of Mohd Jumadi Minhat, 21, and Nor Sarahfiqah Abdul Mutaali, 24.

The duo was charged with committing the offence at a 7- Eleven outlet at Jalan Song Thian Cheok here around 4.10pm on Oct 30 last year.

It was reported that armed with sickles, they had threatened the worker before asking him to surrender the money in the cash register.

They are facing a charge under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same code which provides for up to 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction.
