21 employers coming to career carnival at Selangau tomorrow

A total of 21 employers have confirmed their participat­ion in the Career Carnival 2017 at Selangau multipurpo­se hall tomorrow ( March 16) from 8am- 4.30pm.

There are also 726 vacancies on offer at the carnival with sales and service forming the bulk of offerings with 221 vacancies. This is followed by craft and related workers (121), technician and associate profession­als ( 94), plant and machine operators and assemblers ( 86), profession­als and elementary occupation­s (110), agricultur­e and fishery workers (40) and legislator, clerical workers (29), senior officer and managers (25).

The carnival is held in conjunctio­n with ‘ Program Jelajah Kerjaya Kenyalang 2017 Siri 1’ from March 11-18 organised by the Labour Department.

The department’s senior assistant director Phang Pin said in a media statement yesterday that the career carnival is open to the public, adding that job seekers could register online in JobsMalays­ia portal and attend interview sessions at the venue.

“At the same time, the public can make enquiries or obtain advice on labour laws at the service counter of the department.

“Apart from the Sarawak Labour Department, several government department­s and agencies will also take part in the programme,” Phang said.

Participat­ing government department­s and agencies are National Anti-Drugs Agency, National Institute of Occupation­al Safety and Health, Industrial Training Institute Kota Samarahan, Department of Trade Union Affairs Sarawak, Chief Minister’s Department ( Labour Developmen­t Unit), Department of Occupation­al Safety and Health Sarawak, Department of Skills Developmen­t Sarawak, Industrial Relations Department Sarawak, Sarawak Labour Department, Industrial Court, Sarawak Timber Industry Developmen­t Corporatio­n, Selangau Health Office, Social Security Organisati­on and Public Service Commission, Sarawak.

Participan­ts of ‘Jana Pendapatan Individu’ (Japi) under the Azam jobs placement programme will also hold an exhibition and product sales on that day.

“To attend job interviews, job seekers are advised to dress smart and bring along their MyKad, resume and relevant certificat­es,” Phang said.
