34 finalists to compete at state-level RNI Kumang, Keling event

MIRI: A total of 34 finalists will vie for the state level Persatuan Raban Ngepan Iban ( RNI) Kumang/ Keling Competitio­n on April 8 at Meritz Hotel Miri.

The competitio­n, organised by RNI in conjunctio­n with the Gawai Dayak celebratio­n, will see 17 maidens in the Kumang category and 17 participan­ts for the Keling category.

They come from the different divisions and districts in the state.

Finalists for the Kumang category are Vivianna Jimbun (25, Julau), Anessa Jacklyn Manie (18, Marudi), Faliny Rabai Nyang (19, Marudi), Natasha Shareen Pita (18, Kuching), Sherry Oliam ( 25, Niah), Whilemena Upam Herman Ulok ( 24, Julau), Nisya Sukri ( 20, Saratok), Audrey Richard Saging ( 23, Bintulu), Lora King ( 21, Limbang), Rachel Freddy Woodford ( 23, Kapit), Michelle Thomas Magal ( 26, Sibu), Beatrice Geraldine Ringkai ( 25, Kanowit), Vanessa John (19, Betong), Evie Sendi Ibil (27, Sarikei), Archie Kulan Tuan (24, Sri Aman), Roseda Ancha (27, Miri) and Monisha Winnie Bui (21, Lawas).

The 17 Keling finalists are Fabian William (26, Kapit), Roger Lue (27, Julau), Jackson Dominic (22, Sibu), Adriel Nyawai Robin ( 26, Miri), Donnie Jap (27, Marudi), Tan Hao Fong (19, Limbang), Richi Tan (23, Limbang), Roland Taa Gamang (26, Betong), Jonathan Morrison (25, Bintulu), Derran Marida (24, Sri Aman), Brian Sebastian Bilim (22, Lubok Antu), Alexander Elin ( 24, Lawas), Augusteen Douglas Steel ( 25, Kanowit), Ron Lloyd Albert Jingga ( 27, Saratok), Mel Gibson Jamit ( 24, Kuching), Jimmy Bana (24, Niah) and Tigang Buli (28, from Sarikei).

The winner for the Kumang category will walk home with RM5,000 cash, crown, trophy, sash, beauty product hamper and free Miri-Kota Kinabalu return air ticket plus accommodat­ion for three days.

The first and second runners up will receive RM2,000 and RM1,500 cash prize respective­ly plus crown, trophy, sash and beauty product hamper each.

A cash prize of RM500 and RM300 will be given to the third and fourth runners up respective­ly with trophy, sash and beauty product hamper each.

Other Kumang finalists will receive consolatio­n prizes of RM100 cash and beauty product hamper each.

For the Keling category, the winner will receive RM3,000 cash, first runner up ( RM2,000), second runner up ( RM1,500), third runner up ( RM500) and fourth runner up ( RM300) plus complement­ary prizes each.

Other Keling finalists will receive consolatio­n prizes of RM100 cash and skincare hamper each.

Additional­ly, winner of the Best Traditiona­l Costume will walk home with RM350 cash and sash while the winner for the ‘ Kumang Multimedia’ and ‘Keling Multimedia’ will receive RM300 cash each.

The winners for the multimedia category will be chosen in a public voting via Facebook.
