Pui elected to lead SJK Hock Lam PTA
KAPIT: Georgina Pui was recently elected as chairwoman of the SJK Hock Lam Parent-Teacher Association ( PTA) committee for the 2017–2018 term.
On behalf of the PTA, she thanked the school and its board of management (BOM) for their support in implementing various planned activities smoothly.
“The PTA and BOM are just like the two wings of the bird that play an important role to support the school in promoting a conducive learning environment. The PTA is like the bridge linking the school and parents together to thrash out differences and in a way, help to inculcate discipline in the school,” she said at the PTA’s annual general meeting (AGM) recently at a hotel here.
Earlier, school headmaster Wong Siew Ching briefed the parents on the school’s performance and also the ongoing construction works for the new 14- classroom three- story concrete block.
“The work is scheduled to be completed by the middle of this year and we hope pupils are able to move in soon after that. I apologise for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing project. There are not enough classrooms; that is why we have to conduct lessons in both morning and afternoon sessions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ting King Yiing was elected as assistant chairman followed by Sng Hui Ping as secretary and Chen Le Ming as assistant secretary. Chia Cai Rong is the treasurer, assisted by Wong Su Ting.
Other committee members are Aruoni, Tommy Wong, Dr Hii King Ching, Lau Hui Chen, Sophia Pui, Su Cheng Ping, Lina Ling, Zhong Ai Lian, Elizabeth and Ma Lian respectively.
