SIBU: United People’s Party (UPP) Community Service Board (Sibu) will reveal part of its development master plan for Sibu on March 31.

Its chairman Dato Andrew Wong, said this would cover areas such as traffic, transport, community development, small businesses and youth.

“I think we will present part of the development plan of what we want to do maybe only 20 to 30 per cent because this is very progressive. We will be doing a full briefing to the press on March 31 after our first full board meeting,” Wong said during a visit to the site of a recent fire which gutted four houses in Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Teku here.

He said they were trying to fine tune the master plan by figuring out what actually worked from that those that didn’t.

“So, once we figure out what we can do, then we will present it to the press and also upload it on our website for people to comment.

“This is because after careful analysis, we find some of the things that we want to do cannot be done. Then, we will not do,” he said.

Wanting to see their plans to be actionable within six months, he said: “In other words, from the time we make it public to the time that we want it to be operational – (it) must be within six months’ period. Otherwise, if it is too long then, there is no point.”

According to Wong, after every full board meeting, there will be a new plan coming up all the way to the development master plan.

“That means, every month when we present it, within six months we want to see those things happen. For example, if we want to improve public transport; we have an idea on how to improve it, within six months we want that to happen already.”
