Rep expects to implement projects worth RM5 million this year in Nangka

-

SIBU: A total of 17 rural transformation ( RT) projects costing about RM5 million will likely be implemented in Nangka constituency this year.

Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee said the projects include kindergartens, recreational centres and houses of worship.

“The projects are subject to approval by State Planning Unit so I am not giving the details yet,” he told reporters after chairing a coordination meeting with implementing agencies and departments at Sibu Resident’s Office in Sibu Islamic Complex here yesterday.

The Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology said roads were not included because Nangka constituency is in a semi-urban area whereby allocations for road projects fall under Malaysian Roads Records Information System ( Marris) fund.

He said almost all of the 14 RT projects for last year were successfully implemented except the upgrading of Bandong Food Court in Kampung Bandong.

“The project costing RM1.9 million will commence soon,” he said. The implemented projects included upgrading of Taman Selera Harmoni Food Court, installation of street lighting in longhouse areas and upgrading of Al Qadim Mosque and Sikh Temple, he said.

On the RM5 million RT project allocation for each Barisan Nasional ( BN) assemblyman, Dr Annuar said it would not be given in the form of cash.

“The RM5 million is given in the form of funds for implementation of projects in our respective areas,” he said.

Present were Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee, his deputy Wong Hee Seng and Sibu district officer Awang Yusuf Awang Mustapha.
