Up to PAS to decide direction of political cooperation — Azmin

-

SHAH ALAM: It is up to PAS to decide the direction of political cooperation with Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) following a proposal by a state PAS division to sever ties with PKR.

PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said PKR’s stand that all opposition parties including PAS focused on the mission to win the 14th general election (GE14) had never wavered.

“We will discuss this issue and we see later what will be said at their (PAS) assembly. PKR’s stand remains the same (to maintain ties with PAS) and continue the one- on- one mission in GE14,” he told reporters here yesterday.

He was commenting on the action of PAS Permatang Pauh division in Penang which recommended that PAS would sever political cooperation with PKR.

Earlier, Azmin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, attended the state government departments’ monthly assembly conducted by the Selangor State Development Corporation.

Azmin reiterated that PKR had never severed ties and cooperation with any opposition party but in fact, had always been open and would continue to discuss the issue with PAS. The Permatang Pauh PAS division had suggested for PAS to sever ties with PKR as the party’s action is said to be contrary to the principles of political cooperation and would even affect their preparations to deal with Muslim voters in GE14.

The unanimous proposal was declared by Permatang Pauh PAS division chief Omar Hassan, following PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s decision to continue cooperation with DAP and Parti Amanah Negara which attacked the PAS leadership. — Bernama
