KUCHING: The country needs to muster its resources in producing an education plan which can overcome the negative effects of globalisation and help change the national education policy effectively.

According to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia ( UKM) Faculty of Education dean Prof Datuk Dr Norazah Mohd Nordin the process of globalisation has significantly influenced the system of universal education, especially through the use of information technology and the English language as medium of communication in schools.

“Hence, every country would need to adapt to changes in order to remain relevant, therefore, it is necessary to mobilise all effort and ideas to produce an education plan to overcome the negative effects of globalisation and drive towards the transformation of the national education as a whole effectively,” she said during the National Education Research Seminar themed ‘Quality Research The Core of Excellent Education’ held at Batu Lintang Teacher’s Training College yesterday.

Norazah hoped the seminar would serve as a platform for scholars, intellectuals, educators and education policy makers across the country to evaluate the Malaysian Education Blueprint ( MEB 2013-2025) drawn up by the Ministry of Education ( MOE) in order to streamline effective implementation.

She added that UKM’s master students should share their research papers at the seminar to identify education issues through research and produce effective approach and strategies aimed at improving the country’s present education system.

“I hope this seminar can produce some form of resolution strategy solutions on issues that hinder the smooth and effective implementation of the blueprint and have a better understanding of the audience towards issues pertaining to education,” Norazah said.

Meanwhile, Batu Lintang Teacher’s Training College director Bendui Une said education should be transformative in dealing with current changes especially when addressing issues on education in the 21st century. As such, the aim of education is to produce quality human capital who are capable of uplifting their self-quality as well as contributing positively towards the community and country as a whole. Through holistic education, the younger generation would be guided to excel via the Malaysian Education Blueprint ( MEB 20132025) which aimed at achieving excellence for our education system.

The three- day seminar from March 20-22 is a collaboration between Batu Lintang Teacher’s Training College and UKM Faculty of Education.
