Anifah to attend global coalition against Da’esh meeting in US

-

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia will have its voice heard at the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Global Coalition against Da’esh in Washington on Wednesday.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman will make a working visit to Washington on March 21 to 22 to attend the meeting, hosted by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, which seeks to intensify the campaign to defeat Da’esh with the collaboration of 68 Partners of the Global Coalition.

Wisma Putra in a statement today said Anifah was expected to speak on the current threats posed by Da’esh from the national and regional perspectives, as well as the challenges and counter-measures, during the meeting.

“He will also share Malaysia’s experience and ideas on countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism,” it said.

Wisma Putra said the meeting was expected to identify the ideal mechanism to counter Da’esh’s constant attacks that had caused the loss of innocent lives around the world.

The Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Global Coalition against Da’esh would also give attention to finding ways to encumber the spread of their extremist ideology through false narratives, it said. — Bernama
