PPAM-A avenue for Bumiputera students to pursue accountancy

-

KUCHING: Bumiputera students in Sarawak can now enrol for professional accountancy courses at Kolej Sunway Kuching under the Peneraju Professional Akauntan Muda Kategori A ( PPAM-A) for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) school-leavers programme.

Awarded by Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju), this exclusive scheme is currently available only in the Klang Valley and Sarawak as it is dependent on the tuition provider’s locality.

The PPAM-A aims to increase the number of certified professional accountants via the fastest route to a career in accountancy — the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional qualifications.

Yayasan Peneraju’s sponsorship is on a convertible loan basis covering the student’s tuition fees, annual subscription fees, initial registration fees, examination fees and exemption fees, allowances and accommodation.

The main benefit of PPAM-A is that it gives young and motivated scholars the opportunity to obtain internationally recognised qualifications, while being funded at a leading education institution like Kolej Sunway Kuching.

Apart from CAT and ACCA certifications, scholars will also obtain a Degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University ( OBU) through Research and Analysis Project ( RAP) upon completion of this programme.

To be eligible for the scheme, the candidate must be Bumiputera, aged 19 years or below and must have completed SPM or O-levels with a minimum of 5As (including minimum of A in Mathematics and English).

Scholars will need to complete all certification papers ( CAT, ACCA and OBU Degree) within four years on a full-time study basis.

Upon completion of the programme, scholars are only required to pay a maximum of 20 per cent of the loan. They will not be bonded by Yayasan Peneraju, but are required to work within Malaysia. If a scholar chooses to work outside of Malaysia, then he or she is required to work with a Malaysian company.

Bumiputera students interested in PPAM-A are advised to apply directly via YayasanPeneraju’s website (www.yayasanpeneraju. com.my). There is no need to apply through Kolej Sunway Kuching.

Kolej Sunway Kuching is the fi rst and only tuition provider in East Malaysia to be awarded with Platinum Approved Learning Partner status by ACCA.

For more information on the PPAM-A, contact Kolej Sunway Kuching at 082-236666 or visit the college’s campus at Song Plaza, Jalan Song, from 9am to 9pm.
