Teenager among five nabbed for drug possession

KUCHING: A secondary school dropout was among five individual­s nabbed for drug possession following a police raid on a house in Petra Jaya on Tuesday.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the 15-year- old dropout, who is unemployed, was detained along with four other men, aged between 26 and 41 years, following a tip- off received from the public.

“Acting on a tip- off received, personnel from the anti-narcotics unit nabbed five suspects outside a house at Bandar Baru Semariang around 11.30am and recovered a packet of syabu during a body search.

“Two of the suspects are labourers while the others, including the teenager, are unemployed,” he said when contacted yesterday.

According to Abang Ahmad, the seized syabu weighed approximat­ely 0.38 grammes and was worth just shy of RM70.

All five suspects subsequent­ly tested positive for amphetamin­es and have been detained pending further investigat­ion under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
