Teenager among five nabbed for drug possession
KUCHING: A secondary school dropout was among five individuals nabbed for drug possession following a police raid on a house in Petra Jaya on Tuesday.
District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the 15-year- old dropout, who is unemployed, was detained along with four other men, aged between 26 and 41 years, following a tip- off received from the public.
“Acting on a tip- off received, personnel from the anti-narcotics unit nabbed five suspects outside a house at Bandar Baru Semariang around 11.30am and recovered a packet of syabu during a body search.
“Two of the suspects are labourers while the others, including the teenager, are unemployed,” he said when contacted yesterday.
According to Abang Ahmad, the seized syabu weighed approximately 0.38 grammes and was worth just shy of RM70.
All five suspects subsequently tested positive for amphetamines and have been detained pending further investigation under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
