Young scouts complete patrol and leadership course

BINTULU: Over 100 young scoutsfrom primaryand­secondary schools here completed two- day patrol and sixers leadership course at SK Kuala Nyalau recently.

The closing ceremony was officiated at by Bintulu Education Office ( PPD) head of Human Developmen­t Unit Awangku Ali Udin Pengiran Adenani representi­ng the divisional education officer.

The course organised by Bintulu Scouts Council aimed to inculcate values and leadership skills among the young scouts.

Awangku Ali Udin said scouting could enhance discipline and selfesteem.

“Scouting is not just a cocurricul­um activity in school, but a platform to create quality human capital that is competent, energetic, independen­t, creative and resilient,” he said.

Scouts from SMK Bintulu and SK Kuala Nyalau were judged the best scouts in the secondary and primary school categories respective­ly.

Aniq Ubaidillah and Airil Syazwan from SK Kuala Nyalau, Abdul Faiz (SMK Kidurong) and Jaymax Cklien Brvyan James ( SMK Bintulu) received awards for being the best scouts.

Present at the closing ceremony were Bintulu Scout Commission­er Abdul Rahim Harmi and SK Kuala Nyalau headmaster Yusuf Piee.
