40 attend forum on NCR land
KUCHING: Dayak Nation Institute ( DANI) held its firstever forum entitled “NCR: The Hidden Truth” here last Saturday, with 40 participants.
During the forum, former Land and Survey officers spoke on the Land Code and solutions for land issues while a ‘ tuai rumah’ (village chief ) from Pantu discussed community empowerment based on his experience in dealing with land cases in court, a press release stated.
Land owner Cobbold John touched on native customary rights ( NCR) land bank utilisation strategy, the monetisation of NCR land banks and how Dayaks can be millionaires using their NCR lands.
The tone of the forum was more on practical, two-way communication, with emphasis on resolutions to problems.
DANI plans to hold similar sessions in rural areas and other towns. The next forum will be held at Telang Usan, Miri on April 15, from 8am to 4pm.
