Big crowd expected at Badudun and Buffalo Race Festival
LIMBANG: Over 3,000 people are expected as spectators and participants in the Badudun (berambeh or singgah) and Buffalo Race Festival to be attended by Deputy Chief Minister ( DCM) Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah Embas this weekend ( March 2526)
Chairman of the Limbang Malay Association or PML and organising chairman Mohamad Abu Bakar said the fourth edition of the programme will be centred at Kampung Telahak.
“This will be an opportune time for locals in Limbang District to meet the number two state leader in person during his first visit since appointed DCM,” he told the media yesterday.
Mohamad said among the activities to be held starting tomorrow ( March 25) are exposition and sales of products, competitions such as 7- aside football, tug- of- war, sepak takraw, cooking, kelupis making, traditional games like top spinning and karaoke competition.
On Sunday ( March 26) among the events drawn up are buffalo races, cultural performances and hadrah and silat shows as well as a community feast.
The festival is jointly organised by PML, Livestock and Buffalo Rearing Association, Limbang ( PPLKL) and Limbang Resident’s Office.
Badudun and Buffalo Race Festival is one of the major programmes in Northern Sarawak to enhance cooperation and harmony among people living along Limbang River.
It was also to promote the area as a premier buffalo racing arena to revive the once popular sports in the region.
The festival was first held in Kampung Telahak followed by Kampung Meritam, Gadong and back to Kampung Telahak for the fourth edition.
