BAU: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) secretary general Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom attributes the success and strength of the party to the deep understanding between its Bumiputera and Pesaka wings.

Another reason is the grooming process in the party, he pointed out.

“Unlike other political parties which are breaking, we see that PBB is going stronger and this can be clearly seen in the past 50 years.

“This is because we have high degree of understanding between Pesaka and Bumiputera wings for positions in the party and because we have a dynamic grooming process,” Dr Rundi, who is also state Barisan Nasional ( BN) secretary general, said at the launching of PBB Serembu branch at Siniawan community hall on Saturday night.

However, Dr Rundi reminded party members complacent.

The fact that PBB candidates had never lost in both parliamentary and state elections since 1991 was another testimony to the strength of the party, he added.

Dr Rundi, who is Minister of Public Utilities, further said that the party had instructed every party branch to recruit at least 60 per cent of the voters in every constituency to further strengthen the party.

Meanwhile, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh said Serembu branch had about 3,162 members and eight zones.

“We plan to recruit about 5,000 members by end of the year,” Miro, who is the party branch chief, said. not to be

He also said that Serembu had been having a PBB branch since it was under Bengoh constituency (now Mambong).

For the record, Serembu is a new seat after the re- delineation exercise.

Miro thanked Datuk Peter Minos, who was present, for being the pioneer in bringing PBB to Bau, which eventually led to the forming of the branch in Serembu.

Present were Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, Datuk Detta Samwn who is special officer to Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit and Bidayuh Temenggong for Kuching Division Austin Dimin.
