Good Samaritans help Boys’ Home, cancer patient

-

KUCHING: The Salvation Army Boys’ Home and a cancer patient were the latest recipients of donations thanks to voluntary social worker Lim Chee Haw who raised funds from a group of Good Samaritans.

Lim said the donors answered his request to buy food items to reduce the financial burdens of the identified recipients.

“These donors, having achieved some successes in life and business, decided to give something back to society by donating to needy individuals and organisations irrespective of racial and religious leaning. This is a commendable and noble deed,” Lim said.

He disclosed that for the Salvation Army Boys Home, the items donated were rice meant to be cooked as a staple dish for the 40 occupants of the charity body.

He also handed over rice and other food items from the donors to a nose and throat cancer patient Bong Say Fong at RPR Batu Gong near Siburan.

“A family member notified me of the plight of the 46-yearold cancer patient, whose family are living on hard times. The welfare assistance from the government and aid from family and friends are just barely enough to supplement the meagre income of her husband who is the breadwinner.

“Thanks to the donors, the donated items will reduce their burden, although for the short term,” said Lim, a former marine police personnel who now devotes his life to assisting needy individuals and organisations.

On another matter, Lim said poor families facing difficulties during bereavement can contact him at 082-248153 or 016- 8070388 for assistance in acquiring coffins.

These coffins are purchased through donations and are now placed at a coffin shop in Kuching.
