Perak MB denies his office offered Haj package worth almost RM40,000

-

LUMUT: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir yesterday rubbished a posting doing the rounds on WhatsApp claiming his office provided a Haj package worth RM39,500.

Zambry said he was surprised when informed of the matter by State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan and considered those behind it as irresponsible.

“My advice (to the public) is to be careful, as I have never allowed any party to offer any Haj package connected to the Menteri Besar’s office.

“Do not be fooled because it provides a distorted message that this has something to do with me,” he told reporters after attending a briefing on the development of Pulau Pangkor by the Public Works Department yesterday.

The message which used the pseudonym ‘ Friends of Perak Menteri Besar’s Office’ went viral on WhatsApp, offering a Haj package for 28 to 30 days worth RM39,500, including accommodation in five-star hotels in Makkah and Madinah.

On another matter, Zambry said the synthetic field being built at Sekolah Menengah Pangkor was expected to be ready for use from this April, with f loodlights also to be installed there.

He said the Youth and Sports Ministry had allocated RM2.2 million to build the artificial turf for the use of the school and the island’s residents or government events like sports. — Bernama
