UMWT welcomes new chairman, new president

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd. ( UMWT) treated its local guests as well as from Japan and Asia Pacific Region to usher in its new chairman and new president recently at one of the hotels here.

Akio Takeyama, the deputy chairman of UMW Toyota Motor introduced Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman as its new chairman and Ravindran Kurusamy as the company’s new president.

Hamad Kama Piah brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the field of unit trust management, investment management and corporate finance. He has been with the Permodalan Nasional Berhad a leading and respected investment institutio­n in the country and has served as the group president and CEO for many years.

Ravindran has been with UMWT for past 26 years and has served in various divisions in the company where he acquired wide ranging experience. Over the years, he has also built a close rapport with UMW’s joint venture partner, Toyota Motor Corporatio­n.

Also present at the cocktail event were Hiroyuki Fukui, managing officer Toyota Motor Corporatio­n, Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim, president & Group CEO, UMW Holdings Bhd and guests from Toyota Motor Corporatio­n, Toyota Motor Asia Pacific, Toyota affiliates from the Asia Pacific Region, senior government officials, representa­tive from the Embassy of Japan, top management from the media and business partners.
