Siblings lost while searching for forested family land

MARUDI: Two brothers who lost their way home while surveying their forested ancestral land near Jalan Dabai here were later found by a search party late last night.

The two siblings, Liew Wei Khoon, aged 43 and Liew Cheng Khon, 45 had entered the jungle at around 5.30pm yesterday to see the family land. It is learnt that they could not find their way back after it became dark and were wandering in the jungle.

Their sister, Liew Mew Ling, 42, who is a teacher of SMK Marudi lodged a missing persons report at the Marudi Police Station after which a search and rescue team was activated to look for the duo.

Baram Police chief DSP Gabriel Risut in confirming the report said the SAR team comprising police and Fire and Rescue Deparment personnel found the two siblings after searching in the jungle for about one- and- a-half-hours at around 10.30 last night.
