Si­b­lings lost while search­ing for forested fam­ily land

MARUDI: Two brothers who lost their way home while sur­vey­ing their forested an­ces­tral land near Jalan Dabai here were later found by a search party late last night.

The two si­b­lings, Liew Wei Khoon, aged 43 and Liew Cheng Khon, 45 had en­tered the jun­gle at around 5.30pm yes­ter­day to see the fam­ily land. It is learnt that they could not find their way back af­ter it be­came dark and were wan­der­ing in the jun­gle.

Their sis­ter, Liew Mew Ling, 42, who is a teacher of SMK Marudi lodged a miss­ing per­sons re­port at the Marudi Police Sta­tion af­ter which a search and res­cue team was ac­ti­vated to look for the duo.

Baram Police chief DSP Gabriel Risut in con­firm­ing the re­port said the SAR team com­pris­ing police and Fire and Res­cue Depar­ment per­son­nel found the two si­b­lings af­ter search­ing in the jun­gle for about one- and- a-half-hours at around 10.30 last night.
