Teacher ac­cused of mo­lest­ing pupil awaits rul­ing

KUCH­ING: A mag­is­trates’ court here yes­ter­day ad­journed to April 11 rul­ing on the case of a teacher ac­cused of mo­lest­ing his pupil.

Mag­is­trate Zul­hairil Su­laiman made the de­ci­sion on Ahamit Ump­ing, who was re­leased on ex­tended bail, af­ter the pros­e­cu­tion closed its case.

Ahamit has main­tained his in­no­cence on the charge un­der Sec­tion 354 of the Pe­nal Code, which car­ries an im­pris­on­ment term of up to 10 years.

He al­legedly ou­traged the mod­esty of an 11-year- old pupil in the teacher’s room around 10pm on Feb 18 last year.

He was rep­re­sented by lawyer Ab­dul Rah­man Mohd Hazmi while In­spec­tor Hisyam Ju­naidi pros­e­cuted.
