Projects worth over RM3.46m implemented in Bawang Assan
SIBU: Development projects worth over RM3.46 million have been implemented in Batang Igan area, from Batu Barak up to Sungai Pinang here.
The projects were implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) for Bawang Assan constituency.
Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh visited the completed projects on Wednesday, accompanied by divisional engineer Bryan Wong, deputy chairman of United People’s Party ( UPP) Community Service Board Sibu Andrew Shilling, Temenggong Stanley Geramong, Pemanca James Semilan and others.
Among the projects are upgrading of road at Rumah Randi, Batu Burak (RM697,072.96); construction of new road at Rumah Lidwina to Rumah Engir, Nanga Tutus ( RM186,710); upgrading of road in Sebedil ( RM187,748); upgrading of road in Sungai Rassau ( RM704,875); upgrading of road at Kampung Bungan Besar ( RM747,223.68); upgrading of road in Kampung Bungan Kecil ( RM234,525); and upgrading of road in SK Sungai Pinang (RM704,496).
Thanking Wong for the projects, Tuai Rumah Michael Pengabang from Nanga Tutus said such development would enable Nanga Tutus to catch up with the development in other areas.
He said with good road access, they could now travel from Sibu to Nanga Tutus within an hour.
“The road reaches our longhouse,” he said, expressing hope that his longhouse and the surrounding area would get power and water supplies soon.

He noted that the government had approved a mega project that involved the construction of roads to connect Tanjung Kibong to Nanga Tutus, Sebedil, and Kampung Bungan Kecil at a cost of about RM100 million under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
