SMK Sacred Heart 86ixers reunion at 101 Café tonight

-

SIBU: Sacred Heart School’s Class of ’ 86 (the 86ixers) are to have their reunion dinner at 101 Café tonight.

86ixers president Joseph Lau said the event is a prelude to the grand reunion tomorrow which will see over 1,400 former students, teachers, board members of SMK Sacred Heart and SMK St Elizabeth attending.

“But Friday night’s barbecue party at 101 Café is for the Class of ’86 and we call on all our classmates from this batch to show up in force and in our official all black T shirts,” he said after handing over banners to the proprietors of 101 Café.

The 86ixers who came together more than three years ago has been growing from strength to strength. Since 2015, they have donated almost RM120,000 to the school. The bulk of it, RM81,000 was given to help the school settle some of its redevelopment debt, while the balance was allocated to assist under privileged students, Lau said.

“This year we are trying to raise a minimum of RM5,000 which we will contribute during the school’s karaoke fund raising event,” he added.

Tonight’s barbecue party at 101 Café is also in line with the 86ixers motto of ‘ prosper thy neighbour’ whereby they seek out establishments operated by former Sacred Heart students and support them.

Barnabas Tiong, one of the proprietors of 101 Café, said he was deeply touched by the 86ixers’ effort.

“The 86ixers have always been very united in their effort as are many of the other years and they are all rather awe inspiring,” he said.
