Home Ministry bans 19 publicatio­ns deemed detrimenta­l to society

PUTRAJAYA: TheHomeMin­istry ( KDN) has issued a prohibitio­n order on 19 publicatio­ns deemed detrimenta­l to the Malaysian society.

Home Ministry secretaryg­eneral Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim said the order was issued under Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses and Publicatio­ns Act 1984 (Act 301).

He said the order stipulated that the printing, importatio­n, production, reproducti­on, publicatio­n, sale, issuance, circulatio­n, distributi­on or possession of the publicatio­ns were absolutely prohibited in Malaysia.

“These publicatio­ns are banned because their contents may be detrimenta­l to public order, corrupt the minds of the public, jeopardisi­ng morality, public interest and national security,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

The publicatio­ns are Revenge of the Sarong Party Girl, Fifty Shades of Bliss: The Ultimate Guide To Spicing Up Your Sex Life, Maxim ( Vol 18, No. 9 November 2014) ( USA Edition), Maxim ( Vol 18, No. 5 June 2014) ( USA Edition), Pop Psychedeli­c, Only Two Can Play, Black Men Special Edition, The Loving Touch, The Book of Loving Sex, ‘Kamasutra & Kecerdasan Seks Modern’, ‘ Nikmatnya Melayari Bahtera Malam Pertama’, ‘Pelacur Kelas Pertama’ and ‘Nazi Goreng’.

Alwi said three other publicatio­ns were found to contain misleading informatio­n about Islam.

The title of the publicatio­ns are ‘ Bila Anak-Anak Bertanya Tentang Allah Dan Alam Ghaib Inilah 48 Jawapannya’, ‘ Tafsir Al-‘Usyr Al-Akhir dari Al- Quran Al-Karim Juz ( 28,29,30) Disertai Hukum-Hukum Penting Bagi Seorang Muslim’ and The Gospel of Ali ( Islamic Appreciati­on for Jesus)’.

Three other publicatio­ns were found to contain elements promoting the fights of the communists and religious extremists.
