SCCCI hopes for airlines other than MASwings for Sibu-KK route
SIBU: Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCCI) president Dr Gregory Hii said the Sibu- Kota Kinabalu sector would be excluded in the new MASwings’ contract with the government which is said to have been extended for another seven years, starting Jan 1 next year.
He hoped to see the SibuKota Kinabalu sector served by other airlines like AirAsia, and with more competitive pricing and better record of services.

It was reported in the newspapers that details of the new agreement are expected to be finalised by mid- 2017, with the involvement of the state government, Malaysian Aviation Commission ( MAVCOM) and Ministry of Transport ( MOT).
Hii said the move would definitely benefit SCCCI which represents 978 members and business enterprises operating in the central region of Sarawak.
“I agreed wholeheartedly with the MASwings CEO’s own assessment of the past unsatisfactory performance of MASwings as an airline of ‘delay, delay, delay; cancel, cancel, cancel,” he added.
As such, Hii said the people were looking forward to a quantum leap in MASwings’ level of service performance starting now, failing which the people will deem the MASwings CEO and board of directors as having failed to meet the growing expectations of frustrated travellers.
Hii also called for a review of MASwing’s air fare structure, which has been perceived as expensive and unreasonable. flew few this years
