Jumaini Haili is new director of DBKU

KUCHING: Jumaini Haili is the new director of Kuching North City Commission ( DBKU), taking over from Dr Saadiah Abdul Samat who has been appointed permanent secretary to the Ministry of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing.

Jumaini’s appointmen­t took effect from yesterday. Prior to this, he was the principal deputy director of DBKU.

Datuk Bandar of DBKU Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai made the announceme­nt at DKBU’s monthly assembly that was held at DBKU auditorium yesterday.

“As a pioneer in DBKU, I believe that Jumaini is very capable in taking over the post and to continue the legacy to spearhead the council as an excellent entity and to serve the people within its jurisdicti­on,” he said.

In his address, Abdul Wahap advised DBKU staff to continue their efforts to make Kuching City superior in all aspects.

to whatever direction we had strategise­d and planned,” he said.

Abdul Wahap called on all of his staff to continue giving their best services to the council and be willing to change and adapt themselves to their work environmen­t.

“The world is dynamic and I am sure you can and continue to do your best. This is very important,” he reminded.

He welcomed a new senior officer to DBKU, Hasbi Suhaili, who had served at Pelita Holdings Sdn Bhd and five new staff members who joined as library assistants.

Later, he presented appreciati­on awards to 20 staff members who have served more than 25 years at the commission and two staff members who have retired.

Among those receiving the appreciati­on award was Padawan Municipal Council secretary Andrew Jores for his contributi­on to DBKU while serving there.

Meanwhile, in his short maiden speech at the assembly, Jumaini thanked the state government for his appointmen­t as the sixth director of the commission.

At the same time, he hoped that all his colleagues would gave him the support and work together so as to achieve more for the commission and people they serve.
