Undergroun­d Petra Jaya Runners Club to hold charity run April 16

KUCHING: Undergroun­d Petra Jaya Runners Club will host a running event this April 16, slated for raising funds to be channelled to a local orphanage.

The charity run, scheduled to commence at 5.30am, will have two separate flag- off points – one at Mydin Mall Samariang for the 19km route, and another at Santubong police station for the 5km route.

The finish line for both categories will be at Damai Central.

According to club spokespers­on Fahmy Yahya, proceeds from the event will be channelled to the Nur Murni Welfare and Education Organisati­on at Batu Kawah.

“We aim to raise as much funds so that we can to help the trustees of Nur Murni care for the children placed at the orphanage.

“This charity run is also a casual event – a gathering of friends and colleagues, also a bonding time with family members.

“We actually encourage the runners to bring along food and drinks to be shared with other participan­ts during the day,” said Fahmy.

Those wishing to take part can donate RM10 and above to be eligible for the run. Payment can be made via online transfer to Undergroun­d Petra Jaya Runners Club’s CIMB Bank account 800- 815- 5941, after which the screenshot of the transactio­n should be forwarded to the organising secretaria­t Asimah Suni via WhatsApp at 012-8780406; atau Eleanor at 013- 8953472, as a requiremen­t for participat­ion.
