Deliver quality RTP projects on time, appointed contractors told

-

MIRI: Appointed contractors of projects under Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) for Lambir constituency are reminded against taking their jobs lightly.

Assemblyman Ripin Lamat stressed that it would be crucial for them to finish the works and deliver the projects on schedule.

“Not only that, they must also adhere to the project specifications.

“I’m not happy to see that there are ( RTP) projects that actually commenced construction last year but till today, they have yet to reach completion – the works are still in progress.

“Thus, I’m really seeking total cooperation from these contractors to speed things up,” he told reporters after conducting site visits to a number of infrastructure projects in Lambir on Thursday.

At the same time, Ripin also called upon relevant authorities such as the Public Works Department (JKR) and Miri City Council ( MCC) to keep close monitoring on these contractors and the progress of the projects.

He named the construction of the RM200,000 multipurpose hall at Kampung Nelayan in Kuala Bakam and the St Paul Chapel – also at the same village – as among the RTP projects in his constituency.

“I hope this (multipurpose hall) project could reach completion by July this year.

“For St Paul Chapel, a total of RM250,00 was allocated for the second phase development. This would be used to build the parking area and put the drainage in place.

“The first phase, costing about RM200,000, has reached completion.”

Apart from the RTP projects, Ripin also conducted site inspection on other developments under the Malaysian Road Records Information System ( Marris) including those for the communities in Kampung Tunku Abdul Rahman, Bukit Kisi, Rumah Ngindan Mancha, Rumah Coroner Belly Semburu A at the Bekenu intersection.

“All these road upgrading projects will be implemented in stages,” he added.
