Savour chicken dishes á la South Korea at Lee KFC

-

KUCHING: Those looking for South Korean chicken-based fastfood can head to Lee Korean Fried Chicken – or Lee KFC – at Central Park Commercial Centre in the heart of the city.

According to proprietor Steven Lee, his restaurant uses local chicken seasoned with the best of local ingredients – except for the sauces, paste and chilli powder, which are all imported from South Korea.

“The marinade for the chicken meats – whether fried or cooked in other ways – comprises these tasty paste and sauces together with a blend of onions, carrots, tomatoes and salt.

“Most importantly, we do not use MSG (monosodium glutamate) in our cooking,” he told reporters at the outlet here yesterday.

He also said the menu lists Korean culinary must-haves such as the traditional ‘Kimchi’ (spicy fermented cabbage) and Ramyeon noodle.

“We also serve imported South Korean soft drinks.”

On the must-try dishes, Lee recommended to diners the ‘Soonsal Crisp’ – fried whole boneless chicken leg, the ‘ Snow Chicken’ which is topped with cheese, the ‘Grill Twins’ (thigh meat), the ‘Golden Set’ – consisting of drumsticks, the ‘Golden Wave’ – another fried dish, Grilled Whole Chicken and ‘ Honey Soy Chicken’.

There is also the ‘Family Set’ that can be a mixture of fried chicken, Kimchi, rice or Ramyeon noodles.

Any customer who spends more than RM10 in one bill, they are entitled to one free soft drink.

Lee has more than 20 years’ worth of experience in traditional Korean cuisine, having worked at a five-star hotel in South Korea before coming here about 10 years ago.

He runs another Korean restaurant here, the ‘ Seoul Garden’.

Lee KFC is on Lot 2818 of Block 10 at Central Park Commercial Centre, Mile 3 of Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here.

It is open daily from 10am to 10pm. For more information, call 082-247 979.
